Wastewater treatment

Industrial wastewater treatment and resource recovery

Diovis helps industrial companies assess and improve wastewater treatment, reduce the load at source and recover water and valuable components. We work with effluents from pickling, electroplating, hot-dip galvanising and hydrometallurgical processes.

Our recommendations reflect the composition and flow of each stream, the existing treatment system and the required quality for discharge or reuse.

What we treat

Wastewater streams we treat

Pickling lines

Spent pickling liquors and rinse water containing acids and dissolved metals. We consider acid recovery alongside treatment and rinse-water reuse.

Electroplating

Effluents containing chromium, nickel, zinc or copper, and cyanide-bearing streams where these arise from the production process.

Hot-dip galvanising

Zinc-bearing wastewater from surface preparation and rinsing, with attention to the residues generated during treatment.

Hydrometallurgy

Process water and effluents from materials production, with treatment and recovery options selected for the stream composition and reuse requirements.

How we work

Our approach to wastewater treatment

We consider wastewater treatment together with the production process. This helps identify where the load can be reduced, which streams need separate treatment and where recovered materials or water can be reused.

  1. Reduce at source. We assess acid regeneration and rinse-water recycling to reduce the load reaching the treatment plant. The review considers how each measure affects the production process and the overall water and material balance.
  2. Treat by stream. We assess the need to segregate streams and select suitable treatment stages. Options include neutralisation and precipitation, membranes and evaporation, matched to the effluent composition and the required outlet quality.
  3. Recover resources. We evaluate returning metals, acids and water to production where technically and economically justified. The assessment considers the quality of recovered streams and the requirements of the receiving process.
  4. Monitor continuously. We help select parameters for online water-quality monitoring, measurement locations and alarm settings. Monitoring supports timely detection of changes in effluent quality and provides operators with data for corrective action.

Water reuse and zero liquid discharge

Where the project requires zero liquid discharge, we assess it as part of the overall water balance, including the handling of concentrated streams and residues. The choice of solution also considers energy use and operating costs.

What we deliver

Technical support for your treatment system

The scope is agreed around your task, from assessing an existing installation to preparing recommendations for modernisation.

Initial data review and technical assessment

Review of wastewater analyses, flow data, operating records and the existing treatment process, followed by an on-site assessment where required. You receive findings and recommended priorities.

Treatment and modernisation recommendations

An assessment of suitable treatment options and proposed changes to the existing system, with the technical basis for equipment selection.

Recovery and reuse assessment

Recommendations on opportunities to recover water, acids or metals, taking account of process requirements and economic feasibility.

Monitoring and implementation support

Recommendations for online monitoring and technical support during implementation of the agreed improvements.
